Northumberland County Show – will be held on Bank Holiday Friday 3rd June 2022

Monday, 22 November 2021

Following our recent AGM in November the Management and Organising Committee for the Northumberland County Show are now in full swing with preparations for the 2022 show.

It’s great to be back following a two year break due to Covid.

The Show’s new Chairman, Mr Mark Scandle, from Hexham, explained, “we are delighted to have the show team back together again and we’re excited to be planning next year’s show, which due to the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations will now be on BH Friday 3rd June 2022.”

We will be looking forward to welcoming thousands of visitors, volunteers, competitors and traders, from across the NE region, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Scotland and further afield to this one-day agricultural event. Mark continued, “It takes many months of intense work to organise an event of this scale, but we feel certain that the show will go ahead in a safe and secure way for all attending next June.”

The Northumberland County Show, run by Tynedale Agricultural Society, has been held in various locations and under different names since the 1830’s, and over its one hundred and ninety year history has only been cancelled a handful of times: during each world war and Foot and Mouth. Since 2013 the show has been held in the beautiful grounds and parkland surrounding Bywell Hall, nr Stocksfield the home of Lord and Lady Allendale and their family. Its proximity to Stocksfield station, with rail and bus links, great road links and extensive free parking and exciting attractions has made it a popular destination for couples and families alike.

Maintaining a positive outlook, Mark  added, “The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations next year give us the perfect platform to plan for an extra-special Northumberland County Show. It is a break with tradition for the Show to be held on Bank Holiday Friday, 3rd June 2022.  With a two year break behind us, we will all have something very exciting to look forward to and it will be absolutely spectacular!”
