Big Pete Monster Truck - Main Arena Act
All the visitors love our main arena acts and with the addition of Big TV coverage, they’re sure to attract a high crowd. Our fantastic show stopper for 2017 is Big Pete and his Monster Truck. Weighing in at 7.5 tons this awesome machine is built for one reason only – mass destruction! Big Pete is one of Europe’s largest Monster Trucks with a full size American truck body. Jumping 15ft in the air is an Impressive sight for any event, crushing anything in its path.
We are proud to announce that Re-enactment group Roma Antiqua will be attending a show with their Roman Camp, fully equipped with a Military and Surgeons tent. Military talks and a Roman Catapult. Blue the Bludstepper will also be coming along with his owner to show us what it was like to be in the Roman Cavalry. They will be taking a turn in the Main Arena.
Northumberland Food Marquee
Marquee promoting all the glorious things in Northumberland including The National Trust, Dark Skies etc. It will also be displaying the Roman Schools Competition.
Ben Potter is returning with his exciting birds of prey team. Watch out for free flying Sea Eagles, Vultures and a dazzling display of magnificent raptors swooping around the Castle Arena.
The Sheep Show is a humorous educational live stage show about sheep and wool. Nobby the Norfolk Horn takes centre stage while his charming, and cheeky, sheep friends are introduced. The highlight is ‘The Sheep Show Hustle’ - dancing sheep!
Gun Dog Scurry
Central Bark Dog Training North East,, Morpeth will be running fun filled gundog tests at the Northumberland County Show this year. This will be open to all breeds of dog willing to have a go at trying their paws and nose at three marking and retrieval tests. The gun-dog area laid out on the show ground will provide an excellent venue as a demonstration area. Junior and senior handler categories with prizes to third place. Bring your dog along and have a go!
Try your hand at fly casting at our fully interactive Tyne Rivers Trust stand. Learn more about the excellent fishing throughout the region’s rivers and the conservation and regeneration carried out by the trust and its volunteers.
Tug of War
A fantastic selection of teams will compete for this years Tug of War title in the Castle Arena. The success of last years event will mean more entries with more teams needing you to cheer them on in their quest to be the best!
This year we are delighted to host the Elite Silverback Strongman Team Challenge run by Elite Strongman Promotions to be held in the Castle Arena and this year very kindly sponsored by Wylam Brewery.

Our range of unique vendors in the Street Food Market feature cuisine from all around the globe. From the exotic flavours of the far east, spicy Mexican feasts, delicate French crepes to classic Italian pizzas hand cooked in a wood fired oven. Try something different and watch it cooked while you wait.
Pig Show Competition - New for 2017
Our pig display was buzzing with activity last year, with visitors loving our cute piglets and unusual breeds. We’re launching competitive classes this year and looking forward to welcoming Tamworths, Old Spots and a host of commercial varieties competing for shiny new trophies and rosettes in this section.
Rare Breed Sheep - New for 2017
Rare Breed Sheep are making a huge come back on the agricultural scene, adding lean flavoursome meat and exceptional wool quality back into the gene pool for sheep breeders and consumers worldwide.
Show Cob Classes - New for 2017
It has been several years since we had dedicated Cob Classes, but due to popular demand, we are delighted to welcome this as a new section for 2017. Cobs can be any solid colour, or with white markings, so some may also qualify for our CHAPS classes too. They have gentle, responsive natures and their lack of height make them great for younger, inexperienced or disabled riders.
The Mini-Tanks are ready to roll and the great thing is they are so simple and easy to use, it’s child's play! In fact they are designed to be driven by children 8 years and up and by adults alike.
Meet the Hounds and Beagles
Newcastle and District Beagles will be coming along for a meet and greet in the Main Arena with the Traditional Fox Hounds
The Prudhoe Community Band and Tyne Valley Big Band as well as Northumbrian Pipers entertaining at the entrance gates.
